When undertaking any web or graphic design project, I work closely with the client through a series of stages. These stages are key to successful design:
- bespoke consultancy
- primary (and any existing) research
- identifying need, demand and target audience
- concept development
- information architecture & design
- prototype design & content
- implementation of focus and usability groups
- final design and build
- web and search engine optimisation
Online features and applications
Websites are built up using a range of online features and applications. Below I have listed some of the main ones I have designed for clients:
- online forms: booking, enquiry, questionnaires, user feedback
- staff intranet directories: name, job title, tel, email, room location, photo
- notice boards: selected users post notices, messages and photos
- document store: selected users post documents to allocated folders - all (or selected) users can view and download all documents posted through a web page
- bespoke teaching environments: made to specification with one-to-one training allowing teacher/tutor to update/maintain site. Can be open or password protected
- content managed sites: all website content is held on a server database, the web interface allows the content provider to update the site anywhere in the world simply using the web browser - for example you could update your website in an Internet café in China
Identity and logo design
Often I am asked to design, revamp, compliment or strengthen identities, logos and brand values. Please see identity and logo design to view a selection of this work.
